Linear cavity SHG system (MSL)

MSL

Description

The MSL linear cavity SHG system allows highly efficient frequency doubling of laser light over a broad wavelength range, including 740/370, 798/399, 840/420, 922/461, 960/480, 1020/510, 1107/553nm and others. Unlike bow-tie ring cavities, the linear cavity is a rock solid monolithic design with no kinematic adjustment to the cavity required by the user, providing stable and robust sources for new wavelengths. SHG efficiency is typically 80 to 90% for fibre-coupled mid-power amplified systems (0.5 to 5 watts), and can be optimised for low power direct ECDL (e.g. 100mW) or high power fibre amplified systems.

The MSL is available separately as a complete doubling system with input mode matching, temperature stabilisation, PDH (or FM-demodulation) locking, fibre input and fibre output, or combined with optical or fibre amplified lasers, to provide stable and robust sources for new wavelengths.

The MSL uses a variant of our mLC mini laser controller as the controller for the cavity, which comes with integrated digital control, installed within the main chassis, so no external cavity control electronics box is required.

High conversion efficiency

Typically 70–90% SHG efficiency for fibre-amplified input powers (0.5–5W), with optimisation options for both low- and high-power regimes.

Monolithic linear cavity design

No kinematic adjustments required, ensuring long-term stability and alignment-free operation.

Broad wavelength coverage

Supports a wide range of fundamental/harmonic pairs, including:
740/370nm, 798/399nm, 922/461nm, 960/480nm, 1020/510nm, and more.

Fully integrated control system

Includes temperature stabilisation and PDH (or FM) locking with integrated digital control—no external controller required.

Flexible system configurations

Available as a complete standalone doubler or integrated with our laser and amplifier systems.
