FZW

Description

High-precision absolute wavelength measurement with built-in stabilisation capability

The FZW Fizeau Wavemeter from Santec is a compact, high-accuracy wavelength measurement system based on Fizeau interferometry. Designed for real-time laser diagnostics and stabilisation, it combines fast measurement, high absolute accuracy, and integrated feedback control in a single standalone instrument.

With no requirement for external calibration during normal operation and full computer or standalone control, the FZW is optimised for both laboratory and automated experimental environments.

Wide wavelength coverage

Measures across approximately 350-1260nm without recalibration.

High absolute accuracy

Typical accuracy better than ±200MHz, with 600MHz (3σ) specified performance.

How long we have been planting
High-speed measurement

Up to hundreds of measurements per second for real-time monitoring.

Built-in stabilisation capability

Integrated PID output enables direct laser frequency stabilisation.

Standalone operation

On-device display allows full operation without a computer.

Flexible system integration

USB and Ethernet interfaces with Python, MATLAB, and LabVIEW support.

Applications

  • Laser wavelength calibration
  • Frequency stabilisation
  • Atomic physics and spectroscopy
  • Laser system diagnostics
  • Quantum optics experiments

System Integration

The FZW can operate as a standalone measurement device or integrate directly into laser control loops via its analogue PID output. It is widely used in feedback-stabilised laser systems and multi-laser experimental setups.
